Over the last 35 years Martec Engineering have assembled a dedicated team of people with a wide range of specialisms and expertise. Ranging from fabricators and painters to production planning experts and designers, our people are encouraged and supported to realise their potential.

As the owner of the business Martin oversees the strategic development and commercial activities, with specific responsibility for sales. A fabricator / engineer to trade Martin built the company through the design of innovative products resulting in Martec holding two British patents. To further enhance our product offering Martin has recently entered into a Knowledge Transfer Partnership with Edinburgh University as he believes product innovation is essential in our business. Martin is also committed to the training and development of young people through apprenticeship programmes.

Managing Director

Gary was promoted to Managing Director in January 2017, after serving his time as Operations Director and Board Member in 2013 having worked with Martec is various roles throughout his 17 years with the Company. A sheet metal worker to trade Gary has extensive technical knowledge of the Martec product range and constantly strives to improve Martec’s product design and quality through a close working relationship with our customers.
Karen Dickie

Divisional Director, Martec Fire

Part of the Martec team since 2007, Karen has played a pivotal role in the success of the business. Listening to customers concerns and requirements has resulted in new products such as our market-leading fire screens and doors, as well as improvements within our security door range. Assisting architects with specification and concept drawings through to negotiating on a commercial level with our main contractors, Karen offers our first point of contact for customers. Karen was promoted to Director in October 2015
Jim Robertson

Jim Robertson

Contracts Manager

Jim has over 40 years’ experience in the metal industry having served his apprenticeship as a blacksmith/welder before joining Martec in 1998 as a workshop foreman before being promoted to Contracts Manager in 2003. Jim has a wealth of experience in managing large fabrication projects with particular expertise in balustrading, steel stairs, secondary and structural steel. Jim has completed projects on time and on budget for many of the large construction companies in the market including Wates, Miller Construction and Laing O’Rourke.
Brian McGuigan

Brian McGuigan

Production Manager

Brian was promoted to Production Manager in May 2016.
A welder/fabricator to trade Brian has worked with Martec for almost 25 years having been promoted to Workshop Foreman during 2013. Brian's main responsibilities are to ensure the smooth flow of work through all manufacturing processes within the factory, oversee the training and development of the apprentices and to look for continual improvement in design and quality.
David Flannagan

David Flannagan

Business Development Manager, Security Doors

David has over 40 years’ experience within the Electronic Security Industry, maintaining and servicing Access Control, CCTV, intruder and Fire Systems before moving onto Sales and Management. David operates in conjunction with our estimators and installers to ensure that our Clients receive the best possible service.

Miller Construction

Martec were asked to assist with the refurbishment of Firhill School.

Martec provided outdoor canopys, internal and external balustrading and bespoke stainless steel products.

Martec were also responsible for the installation of the listed products. All products were installed inline with recognised health and safety standards.
